And that is the only configuration that I have tested in the past.
Intel-10.1 has similar failures (except in SSE2 mode!), so this may be iostream's related.
I don't have either VC8 or Intel 10.1.
I will download the free 30-day evaluation version of Intel 10.1
and take a look.
