You'll need the macro BOOST_SHARED_POINTER_EXPORT which is defined at the
bottom of "boost/serialization/shared_ptr.hpp"
class MyClass;
boost::shared_ptr< MyClass > ptr;
BOOST_SHARED_POINTER_EXPORT( MyClass );
