Well, unfortunately I introduced the globbing to account for the aspect
that even if one specifies the toolset as "gcc" BBv2 now expands that
internally to the toolset with version, for example "gcc-4.1.2". But as
you note the difference in the variant directories is an even more
annoying problem.
