Hm, trying to remember... Probably because that's what would also work
on Windows where a hardlink translates to a copy, and as BBv1 doesn't
have a symlink for Windows.
So the hardlink is not wasting space as it might initially look like,
and works to the same effect as the symlink on Linux :-)
