I can confirm that this will solve one half of what I mentioned
before. I was being a bit more conservative in limiting the effect to
NetBSD alone. However, the other half of the problem is not addressed
by that ticket. Consequently, I created a new ticket so the
information is not lost.

I would greatly appreciate someone taking the trouble to commit these
