It works with gcc 3.4.4 which is packaged for cygwin,
but not for either 4.2.3 or 4.3.0 which I built myself.
I suppose that it could be a configuration problem.

I don't have a usable debugger, so the closest I can get is
that it blows up inside wrap_stringstream.hpp line 99
called from test_tools.ipp line 110.
It seems to fail only when I use dynamic linking.
Static linking works fine.
