  Maybe I'm really just being dumb here. But I
  believe that there are many like me. (And not
  only on Windows. You should see a Mac guy
  here looking over my shoulder when I actually
  /type/ commands!)

  IMO a straight
    bjam "-sTOOLS=<tools_name>" install
  with exact hinting at where to find "tools_name"
  would do.
