Sorry for late reply. I was really busy lately.
As an answer to you original post my recomendation to use
output_test_stream. It's powerful test tool that will simplify any kind of
output operations testing.

P.S. I implemented fix that allows BOOST_MESSAGE( hex << 15 ). Wait for
announcement in a list.
