For LL to work with PETE, the return type stuff needs to be defined so that
it will pass the PETE expression templates on. I did a preliminary coding
of it but almost no testing.
I also did the \
/\
overload trick as well and it looked cool but didn't really add anything to
the code. It's around somewhere as well if anyone wants it.
